The Guru Puja lays the whole path to enlightenment on our mindstream, connects us more strongly to our teachers, and allows us to quickly and effectively accumulate merit and purify negative karma. Its practice consists of making offerings to and requesting inspiration from the Spiritual Teacher, seen as the embodiment of the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha), in order prepare our minds to generate realizations.
Spiritual vows and commitments that might have degenerated are also restored through this practice. We unite our minds with the holy mind of the Spiritual Teacher, who is considered the root and life-force of the spiritual path, in order to receive blessings and generate realizations on the path to Enlightenment.
You are welcome to come as an observer or participant in this beneficial practice within a supportive community. There is no charge to participate, but you are welcome to make a small offering of food or flowers to create merit – positive energy. Because this is a practice belonging to Action Tantra, it is best not to eat black foods ( which include meat, eggs, onion, garlic and radishes) the day one performs the puja. After the puja, one can eat whatever one wishes, but before doing the puja, please avoid black foods.
Date and Time:
Friday, April 21 from 7pm to 9pm
Jewel Heart Center: 260 West Broadway, New York, NY 10013
You are welcome to sponsor all or part of this puja. Full sponsorship would be $100 USD. Great merit is generated through your contribution of any amount:“If someone offers a small flower or rice to a Buddha statue, a stupa or scripture then the benefit extends from then up to Enlightenment. Amazing, amazing. It is said in the sutra Piled Flowers, on top of that benefit, you achieve ultimate happiness – liberation from the causes of delusion and karma and on top of that full Enlightenment – all the realizations and omniscient mind.” – Lama Zopa Rinpoche
